Soccer was my favourite sport when I was in primary school. Many of the girls weren’t interested or were not allowed to engage in soccer. I liked to play with the boys, and I remember no one wanted me on their team because I am a girl.They thought I would cause them to lose. It was a challenging experience, and  I had to quit playing soccer because of my gender. I was the only girl in my school that was interested in soccer.

A lot of women face a similar challenge. The societal construct of whats deems fit for men only and women only limit women from unearthing their full potential.  If we could see people beyond gender, the world will be a better place. If  I was encouraged and allowed to persue my passion, who knows I may have been the female version of Pele. Haha. The world missed out on talent.
